Shawn Obermann, the owner of Armor Roofing, was born in Kansas City and raised on a dairy farm in Mt. Vernon. He attended Mt. Vernon High School and studied business at Missouri Southern University in Joplin and the University of Missouri in Kansas City. Shawn has 11 children with his youngest being 13 and a middle school track star. Here’s how Shawn founded Armor Roofing.

It all started with scorching summers in the Silicon Valley of California when I joined my cousin’s roofing company…

Things were going great.  We worked on many projects, including working on a 7-story building without even using a harness. I’ve gotten a lot smarter since then needless to say.

Yeah, that’s how crazy and obsessed I was when it came to roofing. I decided to get into roofing because it was in my blood. When I went back home, I realized how the big roofing companies in Kansas were fooling with marketing gimmicks and low-quality work.

Deep down, I knew these companies could have still made money and provided better solutions. And that’s when I came up with Armor Roofing in 1989. I wanted to transform my burning roofing passion into high-quality, cost-effective roofing for Kansas City residents.

At Armor Roofing, our focus is not on pouring bucks into our pockets but on lowering the cost of installing high-end, weather-resistant roofs.   Shawn believes in standing behind his work and offers a lifetime warranty. He also wants to make things affordable by offering reasonable financing.
